Apple’s big fall event is just weeks away and 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman on Monday spilled some major new details about the next-generation Apple TV set-top box the company will unveil in early September. The most important piece of information Gurman offers is that the new Apple TV will be the first Apple set-top box that will run a full-blown iOS 9 core that’s been adapted for TV. But that’s not all.

Apple TV‘s hardware is getting a redesign that is “slimmer and slightly wide,” while its new remote control will have touch-based inputs and gesture support. Gurman also confirms that the new set-top box will feature Siri integration that will let you search for shows and channels with your voice. You’ll also be pleased to know that Siri’s new Proactive Assistant feature will make eventually make its way to Apple TV, although it sounds like this won’t be present at launch.

These are just some of the details about the next-generation Apple TV. Gurman also dishes some details about the new Apple TV SDK as well as the set-top box’s improved storage space and processing power. Check out the full report for yourself by clicking here.
