What is Android M’s real name? We likely won’t know until next month at the earliest but that hasn’t stopped Googlers Nat and Lo from putting together a new video that teases us with potential final names for Android M.

FROM EARLIER: 7 crazy experimental Android apps you won’t find on any iPhone

Here, for the record, are all the prospective sweets that begin with the letter “m” that Google mentions in the video:

  • Macadamia brittle
  • Madeleine
  • Moon Pie
  • Marzipan
  • Marshmallow
  • Milkshake
  • Mango lassi
  • Milk Duds
  • M&Ms
  • Meringue
  • Malt ball
  • Macaroon
  • Molten chocolate cake
  • Mousse
  • Mocha
  • Maple syrup
  • Molasses

That’s a lot of m-desserts!

We can safely rule out molasses, I think, because there’s no way Google wants its new OS to be associated with anything slow. Google normally doesn’t go with proprietary candies, although it did once go with KitKat, so we can’t rule out M&Ms and Milk Duds out entirely.

Still, for our money the major contenders are marshmallow, milkshake and macaroon since they’re all well known sweets that roll off the tongue easily.
