Is there life on Mars? It’s something that humans have been pondering even before David Bowie first asked the question back in 1971. While it’s a definite possibility given that NASA now believes the Red Planet once had a vast ocean on its surface, we’ve certainly seen no evidence that there’s any intelligent life on Mars. However, the amateur Fox Mulders of the world Want To Believe and they think they’ve uncovered evidence that an ancient civilization of intelligent being once lived on Mars. And that evidence is… wait for it… a grainy image taken by the Mars Curiosity Rover that seems to show a pyramid-shaped rock.

MORE MARS: These 100 people could be the first humans to fly to Mars… where they’ll very quickly die

Here it is, dear readers. Your minds, they are about to be blown:

“A remarkable artefact has been found on the red planet by the Mars Curiosity Rover,” writes YouTube user Paranormal Crucible, who first unearthed (unmarsed?) the image. “Due to the size of the object about the scale of a small car i would theorize that the artefact is either the capstone of a much larger pyramid possibly buried deep beneath the surface or perhaps a marker stone.”

Or… it’s just a pyramid-shaped rock. Hey Google Images, does Earth have any pyramid-shaped rocks?

Ah, it seems that we do.

At any rate, this hasn’t stopped UFOlogists from saying this proves, proves, proves them right once and for all.

“The pyramid is among the clearest photographic evidence collected so far that artificial structures exist on Mars built by an earlier civilization,” Ecopolitics.com breathlessly declares.

What’s really amazing about this sort of thing is that it’s a good bet there’s significant crossover between the people who believe this pyramid proves there’s life on Mars and the people who believe NASA faked the moon landing. If there’s one thing the Internet has taught us, it’s that craziness is a bottomless rabbit hole that you’re best off not diving into.
