LG finally unveiled its next-generation flagship Android phone on Tuesday morning, though the LG G4 really wasn’t much of a surprise going into yesterday’s press conference. As it has done in the past, LG released a series of “teasers” leading up to the event that weren’t really teasers at all, but instead bits and pieces of LG’s official announcement. Gadget fans were still impressed once they finally saw the complete picture though, and there’s certainly plenty to be impressed by.

And for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users in particular, there are some features on the G4 that might stir up a bit of jealousy.

Apple’s latest iPhones are still impressive phones, but at seven months old, they’re definitely beginning to show their age. Samsung, HTC and LG each now have new flagship smartphones for 2015 that tout a range of impressive new features, and Apple’s new handsets for this year are still likely about five months away from their debut.

Focusing solely on the G4, there are five features in particular that might make iPhone users jealous.

IPS Quantum Display

LG’s new G4 smartphone features one of the most impressive smartphone displays the world has ever seen. As we mentioned in our hands-on G4 preview, the 5.5-inch quad HD (1440 x 2560) panel on the G4 is simply stunning. Meanwhile, the iPhone 6 features a 720p display and the iPhone 6 Plus has a 1080p screen.

The G4’s display is brighter than the iPhone’s screens, colors are far more vivid, and the contrast is outstanding.

Manual Camera Mode

There are plenty of manual camera apps for iOS, but obviously none of them feature full system integration. With the G4, LG has introduced a new manual camera mode that offers complete control over white balance, ISO, shutter speed, focus and every other setting you can think of.

LG’s G4 can also shoot RAW images, which is something Apple’s camera app still can’t do.

Color Spectrum Sensor

Manual mode is just one new camera feature LG introduced on the G4. Also exciting is the physical color spectrum sensor hidden next to the LED flash on the back of the phone.

LG’s new G4 offers impressive color reproduction in photos by using this dedicated sensor to instantly read the colors on objects in the frame. The camera then makes adjustments in order to capture those colors more accurately.

Removable Battery

Removable batteries are still a big deal for many smartphone users who would prefer to carry a spare battery instead of a bulky battery case or a portable third-party recharger.

Also of note, the G4 also has a beautiful leather back available in a variety of colors. iPhone users can’t enjoy leather on their iPhones unless they opt for the sleek Vaja leather back that we covered recently.

MicroSD Support

Last but certainly not least, the G4 supports expandable memory.

While the iPhone 6 is available with up to 128GB of internal storage, that number pales in comparison to the amount of storage you can enjoy with a phone that has a microSD card slot. Carry one memory card or carry 10 memory cards — there’s no limit to the amount of music, movies and other files you can store.
