Ahead of the season 5 premiere of Game of Thrones, the talented folks over at Saturday Night Live decided to envision what the show would look like if there was an 8th kingdom called “South Centros.” The digital short, on the whole, is essentially Game of Thrones meets Boyz n The Hood, the seminal 1991 film directed by John Singleton and starring Ice Cube and Cuba Gooding Jr.

All in all, the parody is pretty spot on, especially for those familiar with Boyz n The Hood. It was also nice to see the folks at SNL manage to squeeze in the song “My Mind Playing Tricks On Me” by the Geto Boys.

The only thing missing was Kenan Thompson’s character, playing the role of a medieval Ice Cube, saying something like, “Either they don’t know, don’t show, or don’t care about what’s going on in the kingdom.”

Despite this curiously glaring oversight, the parody is slickly produced and well worth a watch.
