Netflix giveth, and Netflix taketh away. Content is removed from Netflix each and every month, but new content is added as well. The problem is keeping track of all those additions and subtractions, and finding good content to watch when you want to watch it.

There are a wide range of services that aim to make it faster and easier to find and watch good movies and TV shows on Netflix, and today we’re sharing five apps in particular that will make it easier than it has ever been before to find great movies and TV series on Netflix.

MUST-READ: HTC One M9 review

Last week we told you about a terrific Netflix tweak called “God Mode” that makes it much easier to browse content on Netflix’s website. God Mode is just the beginning, however — there are tons of great tools out there to help you find great movies and shows to watch on Netflix.

Here are five great tools for Netflix users in no particular order:

1. FlickSurfer

FlickSurfer makes it insanely easy to find the highest-rated content on Netflix at any given time. Users can drill down by content type (movies or TV shows) and by genre, and then sort by IMDB rating, Rotten Tomatoes rating, Netflix user rating, or an average of all three.

2. What is on Netflix?

What is on Netflix, or “WIOFLIX” for short, is very similar to FlixSurfer but it also shows you what’s new on Netflix. Even better, there are free iPhone, iPad and Android apps available for the service, so using it on your mobile device is a much better experience.

3. Netflix Roulette

Forget all the digging and scouring and hunting and searching and reading and reviewing and rating… Netflix Roulette leaves your next stream up to chance.

4. InstantWatcher

This is yet another tool to help you find solid content to stream on Netflix, but it’s a bit more robust than the others we’ve mentioned so far. It’s also a bit more complex, with plenty of different options to suit your mood, and there are accompanying iOS and Android apps for your mobile devices.

5. Netflix Enhancer

This is a free browser plugin for Chrome and Opera that does exactly what the name suggests: it enhances Netflix. See more extensive ratings and reviews in pop-ups, watch trailers right on the site in a pop-up window, and plenty more.

Of note, the old version is free while a newer version costs $1.99 per year.
