Not content with alienating everyone who enjoyed his movies in the 1990s, Adam Sandler is now trying to dismantle a whole new form of media: video games.

A few years ago, a short film swept across the Internet, captivating everyone who saw it. The short was called Pixels, and in it, a group of classic video game creatures and characters destroyed New York City by turning everything into pixels. It was short, sweet and inventive.

So it only makes sense that Sandler’s feature-length adaptation would look hackneyed, cringeworthy and tired by comparison. They even roped Peter Dinklage into this somehow, so now we’ll have that in the back of our minds while watching Game of Thrones this season.

At the very least, the characters do look pretty neat. Maybe Sandler will prove us all wrong and Pixels will be a smash hit. We’ll find out when Pixels hits theaters on July 24th, 2015.
