After various reports detailed Qualcomm’s alleged overheating issues with the Snapdragon 810 flagship processor — which the chip maker subsequently denied — many publications said Samsung decided against using the component in its upcoming flagship. Some said that only initial Galaxy S6 batches will lack the chip, as Qualcomm fixes performance issues, while others speculated that Samsung might be actually interested in ditching its reliance on top Qualcomm chips for smartphone devices.

The semiconductor giant on Wednesday announced unexpected growth for the December quarter, The Wall Street Journal reports, but also cut outlook for its 2015 fiscal year, suggesting that it may indeed have lost a key job that will impact its bottom line.

Qualcomm said that shifting market share among premium smartphone makers is one reason it had to cut forecast for the year, suggesting that Apple’s strong iPhone 6 and Phone 6 Plus sales are going to further erode flagship Android device sales.

Most importantly though, Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf said that a large customer’s flagship device won’t use the Snapdragon 810 processor, without naming Samsung’s Galaxy S6 in the process.

Mollenkopf did not address overheating issues for the CPU either, saying that more than 60 handsets are developed using the processor.
