Life can be pretty lonely during a big blizzard, which is why some New Yorkers are looking for love in some questionable places ahead of this week’s massive snowstorm. Business Insider has spotted some ads on Craigslist for people searching for “blizzard boyfriends” and “blizzard girlfriends” to help them pass the time while they’re trapped indoors.

“As we sit on the brink of a major snowstorm and prepare for a nearly shut-down NYC, I’m seeking a single 20- or 30-something female who shares my excitement for snow days and wants to create the semi-romantic, mildly productive yet equally fun adult version,” writes one man looking for a “makeout buddy.” “I’m talking endless movies, cookies, whiskey and red wine, occasional work on a strictly as-needed basis, potential igloo-making in a private garden and making out.”
While this man sounds like he’s looking for a commitment-free one-day fling, one woman’s ad spotted by Business Insider shows that some people are looking to use the blizzard to develop more long-term relationships as well.
“Bad weather doesn’t keep you inside either, right?” the woman asks rhetorically in her ad. “Anyone want to do brunch? Looking for someone with long term potential, not interested in [no strings attached] encounter. Please attach recent photo. There’s been too many fellas who send pictures when they were 50 lbs lighter. Happy snow day.”
We ourselves can’t say that scouring Craiglist for snow-day love is a great idea, since it’s hard enough to just sell a microwave on Craigslist without encountering some incredibly sketchy people. That said, we wish all lonely New Yorkers the best of luck in finding someone to hunker down with during the big storm.
