Take that, hackers… whoever you are! Sony Pictures Entertainment’s “The Interview” has apparently generated so much buzz that Sony can’t bear to prevent its originally scheduled premiere on Christmas Day. After first caving and giving in to hackers’ demands that the film be shelved, Sony has apparently changed its mind and will allow theaters to show the movie.

FROM EARLIER: Here’s what critics who saw ‘The Interview’ are saying about it

The news comes from Tim League, founder of the Alamo Drafthouse chain of theaters, who said in a tweet that Sony is allowing the release of the movie.

“Breaking news: Sony has authorized screenings of THE INTERVIEW on Christmas Day,” League said on Twitter. “We are making shows available within the hour.”

According to a separate report from The Dallas Morning News, The Interview will also be made available online through an unnamed streaming video service, though it is unclear if Sony will allow people to stream the movie for free or if there will be a charge.

Sony is expected to confirm the news shortly.

UPDATE: Sony has confirmed a limited theatrical release is set for Christmas Day.
