Apple has already issued iOS 8.2 betas to developers, with iOS 8.2 expected to be the second major iOS 8 update following the recently released iOS 8.1.2, but the company is apparently also working on an iOS 8.1.3 update that should be released before iOS 8.2 is ready for the masses.

Likely meant to bring more bug fixes and performance improvements, iOS 8.1.3 has already been seen in Internet traffic analytics software by MacRumors, although it’s not clear what will be included in this minor iOS 8.1 update.

The first iOS 8.1.3 signs were spotted online on December 8th, just before Apple released iOS 8.1.2 to compatible devices and before seeding iOS 8.2 to developers.

It’s not clear at this time when iOS 8.1.3 will be released, with MacRumors speculating that Apple won’t make it available sooner than January, “unless the update addresses a significant issue that Apple needs to fix more quickly.”

Interestingly, Apple did not patch the iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak when releasing iOS 8.1.2, but it’s not clear whether iOS 8.1.3 has anything to do with this iOS device jailbreaking.
