In case you’re planning to buy an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus for yourself or a special someone this Christmas, you should consider placing an order as fast as possible, to actually be able to have it shipped, wrapped, and neatly hidden underneath a Christmas tree. Otherwise, finding an iPhone 6, and especially iPhone 6 Plus, in stores right before Christmas is something less likely to happen, as Apple is selling everything it can manufacture. Tim Cook said during Apple’s Q4 conference call that the company can’t determine yet whether supply will meet demand this quarter.

“[The iPhone 6 launch] is going great,” Cook said (via Six Colors). “So I couldn’t be happier with it. That said, today demand is far outstripping supply. It’s unclear, looking at the data, when supply will catch up with demand.”

While the exec said that Apple can’t at this time predict whether it’ll manage to catch up with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus demand this quarter, he’s certainly confident that eventually “supply is gonna be great.”

“It’s very difficult to gauge demand without first finding the balance. It’s clear that as of today, and certainly as of the end of the quarter where you’re looking at the data, we’re not nearly balanced, we’re not close, we’re not on same planet,” Cook added.

“It’s very unusual to see every country having a marked improvement over the previous year. And that’s what we’re seeing on iPhone. So I couldn’t be happier with the way the demand looks,” he said.

A different report from Taiwan says Apple is increasing iPhone 6 Plus production to meet the huge demand in China. But the phablet is also sold out in all the other markets Apple has launched it in.

Meanwhile, ordering an iPhone 6 online from the Apple store right now means you’ll get the 4.7-inch handset shipped to your door in seven to ten business days (therefore in late October or early November). The iPhone 6 Plus will take even longer to ship, as it’s supposed to arrive in three to four weeks after the order is placed, or in late November.
