Apple on Tuesday is expected to unveil two iPhone models that will be bigger than any other iPhone the company made so far, coming in 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch sizes. Many reports have suggested the latter model may have various distinct features that will set it apart from the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, and one of them could be iPad-like landscape apps support, 9to5Mac reveals.

The feature is yet to be confirmed officially by Apple, but developer Steven Troughton-Smith altered the iOS simulator to run at 2208 x 1242 resolution – one of the resolutions Apple blogger John Gruber proposed not to long ago for this specific model – suggesting the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 could offer an iPad-like experience when used in landscape mode, thus significantly increasing productivity on the go.

The developer has posted various images showing what certain iOS system apps including Contacts, Calendar and Game Center would look like in landscape mode at that resolution for the iPhone 6 phablet, adding that the apps do not have a similar behavior for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6.

“Kinda interesting – an iPhone that can be an iPhone in portrait, but an iPad in landscape. Productivity when you need it,” Troughton-Smith later wrote on Twitter.
