In case you plan to go skydiving in your friends and for some reason you’ll want to pull out your iPhone after you have jumped off the plane, then you really need to know what happened to @lloyddobbler’s friend Patrick, who’s both a skydiver and an iPhone user.

FROM EARLIER: How to revive your iPhone after dropping it into water

Patrick had his iPhone in his hands before he opened the parachute only to drop it from what looks like quite a considerable altitude, and @lloyddobbler was lucky enough to capture one of the best photos ever – the moment his friend actually dropped the device.

Even more interestingly, the handset, which did not have a protective case on top, survived the massive drop and was later retrieved by Patrick with help of the handy Find My iPhone application.

The lesson is clear that if you ever go skydiving with your handset, make sure you hold on to it if you wamt to use it in the air. As a backup, you should also activate Find My iPhone before the jump if it’s not already running to protect you from losing your handset. And in case your iPhone ends up in water, this handy guide might help you save its life later.

Meanwhile, the picture that shows Patrick’s “blissful ignorance of the moment” in which he lost his phone follows below.
