A new episode in the selfie cultural phenomenon saga has been written – and no, it doesn’t have anything to do with the actual Selfie TV show that’s coming this year – as Sony has apparently decided to green-light a horrendous camera for selfies. The bulky, revolving thing you’ll see at the top is part of an ugly camera that’ll supposedly allow the user to take better selfie photos than other devices.

It’s not clear how much this thing will cost, and Sony has yet to officially announce it but the device will reportedly be launched on August 22nd in China, as it has already been listed on Sony’s local web page.

The fact that this unnamed Sony device looks like a perfume bottle isn’t an accident either, as Sony is apparently targeting women with the device, a move that surely won’t lead to accusations of obnoxious sexism.

Despite its ugliness, the product actually packs quite a punch when it comes to camera abilities, G for Games reports, as the device has a 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS 19.2-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization, 3-inch display, Wi-Fi, NFC support and microSD support.

Just so you know when you’ll decide against buying it, the Sony selfie camera measures 125 x 57.7 x 20.1mm and weighs 136g. In case you still need a selfie phone though, Microsoft should unveil a Windows Phone selfie handset soon enough.
