The HTC Nexus 9 – also known as Flounder and Volantis, and sometimes called the Nexus 8 – will have some impressive hardware, a new set of reports claim. The tablet has been spotted on Korea’s communications regulator (RRA) site, where it has apparently passed certification, G for Games reports.

The HTC device was not identified as a Nexus tablet and was instead referred to as “0P8210000,” which is exactly the same code name that appeared in an older Nexus 9 image leak from @evleaks that also referred to the device by the codename “Flounder.” Flounder and Volantis are the name used by Googlers to refer to this particular device, as discovered in various code references.

While the RAA did not reveal any specs for the upcoming tablet, a Twitter account that goes by the name of @UpLeaks has shared some details about the new device.

According to the leaker, the HTC Nexus 9 is also known as HTC T1, and will offer a 64-bit Tegra processor, MDM9x25 modem (the LTE version,) 4GB RAM, NFC, GPS and Android L under the hood.

When it comes to cameras, the Nexus tablet will have an 8-megapixel main camera, and a 1.6-megapixel front-facing cameras, according to the same source.

These specs are somewhat in line with an older leak from mid-June, which listed several specs for the upcoming HTC Nexus 9 tablet, and they confirm the fact that HTC is indeed working on a high-end Nexus device for Google.

The HTC Nexus 9 is expected to be more expensive than its predecessors, with pricing possibly starting at $399 for the Wi-Fi version. As for launch dates, Google is expected to start selling it this fall once Android L is ready to be rolled out.
