According to data from market research firm Net Applications, only 7.39% of the personal computers on the planet are Macs. While Mac users clearly aren’t a majority, they’re about to have access to some of the most impressive features the world has ever seen when it comes to utilizing a desktop experience that spills over onto mobile devices, and vice versa.

Alongside the unveiling of iOS 8 and OS X 10.10 Yosemite, Apple showed off a suite of new features during its WWDC 2014 keynote called “Continuity.” Combined, the features might constitute the most impressive thing we saw from Apple earlier this week.

Included in the Continuity suite is a feature called “Handoff” that allows user with both Mac and iOS devices to quickly and easily move information between the two.

Here’s how Apple describes it:

Handoff lets you pick up right where you left off.

Now you can start writing an email on your iPhone and pick up where you left off when you sit down at your Mac. Or browse the web on your Mac and continue from the same link on your iPad. It all happens automatically when your devices are signed in to the same iCloud account. Use Handoff with favorite apps like Mail, Safari, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Maps, Messages, Reminders, Calendar, and Contacts. And developers can build Handoff into their apps now, too.

It sounds pretty awesome, but seeing is believing. AppleInsider put together a quick video on Thursday to show off just how well the feature works, and that video is embedded below.
