HTC’s marketing for its phones has been… well, the less said about it the better. That said, a new report from Evleaks indicates that HTC may have finally found a clever hook to sell its new smartphones and it thankfully doesn’t involve the Hipster Troll Carwash. According to Evleaks, HTC is working on a new phone called the HTC Eye that will release in the fourth quarter this year on AT&T and will be billed as a phone that’s designed to take “the ultimate selfie.”

While this phone alone surely won’t rescue HTC from its current slump, it’s still good to see the company coming up with clever feature ideas that it can use to hook prospective buyers. Samsung, for instance, has mastered the art of making even its most pointless features seem like cutting-edge must-haves and it looks like HTC has finally started thinking along the same lines. HTC also recently hired Samsung’s former U.S. marketing boss, which means we might actually see some decent ads from the company in the future as well.
