Battlefield Hardline is coming to E3 2014 – watch the leaked trailer now

Battlefield Hardline Trailer

Shortly after EA confirmed the existence of Battlefield Hardline, the next game in the enormously popular first-person shooter series, a YouTube user leaked an extensive 7 minute trailer, exposing the new mutliplayer modes and the single-player campaign. EA had originally planned on saving the reveal for E3, but as with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare earlier this month, the leak was almost automatic.

Battlefield Hardline is the first game in the series to be developed by Visceral Games. Visceral is the developer behind the Dead Space series, and the team is looking to completely refresh the Battlefield franchise with a smaller scale and a more focused campaign.

In Battlefield Hardline, Visceral has ditched the explosive, world-spanning wars of the previous entries to tell a story of cops and criminals. The Omaha campaign will put players in the shoes of Nick Mendoza, a Miami detective seeking revenge against the partners he once trusted. The campaign will draw from popular television cop dramas, with standalone episodes to complete as you advance through the story.

The multiplayer mode plays off the cops vs. criminals act as well, yet another new direction for Visceral’s take on Battlefield. The multiplayer will be more tactical in Hardline, requiring players to work together to pull off heists, rescue hostages or escape the police in an all-out race across huge environments.

The trailer doesn’t feature any information regarding a release date, but if EA can plug the leaks for long enough, we’ll find out when we can get our hands on Hardline at E3 2014. Battlefield Hardline will be available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
