The second victory it scored against Samsung in their second U.S. patent-based lawsuit isn’t enough for Apple, as the jury only awarded the iPhone maker almost $120 million in damages, which seems like petty cash compared to the $2.2 billion it wanted for alleged infringement. Therefore, Apple on Friday filed a document with the court asking it to ban sales of certain Galaxy devices, Re/code reports. The company also asked judge Judy Koh to grant it a partial retrial on the amount of damages Samsung should pay.

“Apple will suffer irreparable harm if Samsung continues its use of the infringing features, that monetary damages cannot adequately compensate Apple for this resulting irreparable harm,” Apple explained in its document on the permanent sales ban it requested.

Furthermore, Apple wants to also prevent Samsung from selling any other Android handset or tablet in the region that will have features “colorably similar,” to the ones it was found to infringe.

If victorious with the sales ban request, Apple would bar Samsung from selling nine devices in the country, including the Admire, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S2, Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch, Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, Galaxy S3 and Stratosphere. However, many of those handsets aren’t still available in stores.

Recent reports have suggested that Apple and Samsung are willing to settle their legal disputes out of court more than ever, although a second report raised doubts on whether the two giants are really ready to bury the hatchet.
