Video: Leak may reveal how incredibly thin the new iPhone 6 will be

iPhone 6 vs iPhone 5s vs iPod touch

The new, bigger iPhone 6 is again tipped to be a lot slimmer than its predecessor, with a video from Unbox Therapy suggesting that the iPhone 6’s profile will measure just 6.1mm. Essentially, the iPhone 6 could be almost as thin as the current iPod touch model, which apparently matches a purported iPhone 6 case when it comes to thickness.

Unbox Therapy tested the case with the current iPod touch, and while the case is obviously bigger in size when it comes to height and width, the thickness appears to be exactly the same. Furthermore, even the volume rockers of the iPod touch match the case’s button placements.

Assuming the case is indeed based on the iPhone 6, then this may be proof the next-gen iPhone will be a lot more similar to the iPod touch than its predecessors.

The video below compares the leaked iPhone 6 case to the current iPhone 5s and the iPod touch. Previous reports did say the new iPhone will be taking design cues from the iPhone 5c and previous iPods, featuring curve lines, a clear departure from the current square design of the iPhone.

A recent report also said that Apple may have some 5.5-inch iPhone 6 manufacturing problems, as the company wants battery makers to create a 2mm battery for the iPhone, which is 2/3 as big as batteries found in other devices. The report also suggested the phone will have a very thin profile. Leaked purported schematics showing the iPhone 6 chassis also indicated the phone will have curved edges rather than square ones.

Unbox Therapy has released another video in which it compares the same pink case with existing Android devices, in order to determine the relative size of the iPhone 6 compared to rivals.
