One way this so-called ‘Galaxy S5 killer’ might really kill the Galaxy S5

LG G3 Specs

A recent report out of South Korea referred to LG’s upcoming G3 flagship Android phone as a “Galaxy S5 killer.” Of course, regardless of how impressive the new phone might be, there is simply no way it will “kill” the Galaxy S5 as far as sales are concerned. If LG’s G3 sales amount to even 10% or 15% of Galaxy S5 sales, LG will have done an impressive job. As it turns out, however, there may actually be one key area where the G3 is indeed a “Galaxy S5 killer,” and it’s an area that will come as quite a surprise.

Samsung’s new Galaxy S5 has the best smartphone display the world has ever seen. We wrote about it earlier on Monday. The South Korea-based electronics giant has somehow managed to outdo itself yet again, and the results are fantastic.

Leading up to the handset’s debut, however, rumors suggested that the Galaxy S5 would feature a new quad HD panel with even better resolution than full 1080p HD. Those reports did not end up panning out.

Now, a file discovered on Sprint’s website suggests that LG’s next-generation G3 flagship phone will be equipped with a quad HD 2,560 x 1,440-pixel display.

The G3 is rumored to feature a 5.5-inch screen, so at that resolution we’re looking at a ridiculous pixel density of about 530 pixels per inch. That’s far beyond anything the human eye can perceive, so we might be looking at one of the most impressive panels on the planet.
