Apple is betting that bigger will be better when it comes to the iPhone 6, which is why it’s reportedly working on two versions of the device that are both larger than the iPhone 5s. Barron’s flags a new research note from UBS analyst Steve Milunovich, who says that Apple now has a 4.7-inch version and a 5.5-inch version of the iPhone 6 in the works, although he’s only certain that Apple will release one of them this fall.

While the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is a near lock to launch in either August or September, Milunovich says that the 5.5-inch model “may or may not launch at the same time.” What’s more, Milunovich says that the 5.5-inch model “could be of the same resolution” as the 4.7-inch version, which would deliver lower pixels per inch on the display but would also “help app developers” who won’t have to worry as much about fragmentation for the two devices.

For what it’s worth, Milunovich is pretty bullish about the potential of the iPhone 6 to be a hot seller, especially as it will come just as many iPhone 5 owners are in the market for an upgrade from their old devices. He also says that Apple might give the bigger version of the iPhone 6 a higher price than the standard version, which matches up with a report we heard earlier this month about Apple conceivably charging $300 on contract for an “iPhablet” of 5 inches or bigger.
