Huawei on Sunday unveiled a new mid-range smartphone at MWC 2014, the Ascend G6, which will also be available in a 4G LTE version. The Ascend G6 4G will feature a 4.5-inch qHD display – 960 x 540 resolution and 245 pixel per inch (ppi) density – 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 8-megapixel camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 2000mAh battery and Android with Emotion UI 2.0 on top.

The company has particularly highlighted the camera performance of the Ascend G6 in its press materials. The front-facing camera has a four-element lens and comes with “audio-controlled spontaneous snapping, auto-scene recognition and auto-facial enhancement.” The 8-megapixel camera has a five-element lens and a Sony IMX134 sensor. On top of various picture and video models, the handset also offers a voice-activated hand-free “selfie” function to improve selfie pictures. A Huawei teaser posted before MWC made fun of Siri as well as Apple and Samsung, hinting that the company will unveil various new interesting products at the trade show.

The 4G LTE version of the handset will support speeds of up to 150Mbps, will also offer NFC support for mobile payments and will be available starting with April 2014 in black with light gunmetal grey or rose gold highlights, or in white with pink or champagne gold.
