T-Mobile CEO John Legere clearly knows what he is doing. The nation’s No. 4 carrier was barely an afterthought in the press a few short years ago and now the media just can’t get enough of Legere and his antics. Known for letting loose with profanity during press conferences and bashing AT&T every chance he gets, Legere has made quite a name for himself. Of course, showmanship is only one aspect of Legere’s game — he has also managed to shake up the U.S. wireless industry and make T-Mobile the most important carrier in America. Now, T-Mobile’s CEO is ready to unveil the next phase of his “Unacarrier” initiative live from the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Rumors suggested that the fourth installment of T-Mobile’s Uncarrier plans would involve a surprising new way to steal subscribers from rival carriers. The plan is reportedly to offer to pay the cost of breaking a contract at another carrier for any subscribers who switch to T-Mobile. A subsequent leak on Wednesday morning suggested that this will indeed be the case, however the offer will only apply to families bringing over three or more lines, and each family member will have to trade in his or her current handset.

Whether or not the rumors are true, we can be sure of two things judging from T-Mobile’s past Uncarrier announcements: 1. It will be entertaining. 2. It will be a big deal.

T-Mobile’s CES 2014 press conference is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. EST, 12:30 p.m. PST. And since following a live blog of a T-Mobile press conference is like reading an illustrated recap of an Iron Man movie instead of watching it in IMAX 3D, T-Mobile is streaming the entire event live on its press website, which is linked below in our source section.
