The one thing from CES that I absolutely need in my life immediately

This year’s International Consumer Electronics Show has been pretty great so far. There is plenty of filler that will never see the light of day, of course, and plenty more that is destined to crash and burn once it launches. There are tons of gems as well though, and the devices that make up the emerging Internet of Things space will absolutely begin to proliferate in 2014. I can’t say for sure whether the NueVue iPhone case will fall into the “crash and burn” category or the “gems” category, but I can say that so far it’s the one thing I’ve seen at CES 2014 that I need in my life right now.

Perhaps covered best by CNET, the newly unveiled NueVue iPhone and iPad cases are a germaphobe’s dream. These reasonably stylish smartphone and tablet cases include an antimicrobial-coated microfiber lining that cleans and disinfects the screen and back of your device to some degree each and every time you sheath it. If you have even the faintest idea of what a cesspool your smartphone and tablets screens are, this will indeed be a very intriguing product.

NueVue says that 15 minutes in the case will kill 80% of the bacteria on your device and two hours will kill nearly all of it.

iPhone, iPad and iPad mini cases from NueVue will come in a variety of materials including leather and cotton twill, and they will start at $45. Versions will be available for the iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 5/5s, iPhone 5c, iPad and iPad mini.

Cases for other devices are also in the works.
