The Microsoft CEO search soap opera looks set to continue for at least another few weeks. Even though some Microsoft execs had been hoping the company would get the job done by the end of 2014, Microsoft formally announced on Tuesday that it’s still doing due diligence on prospective CEOs and will likely finish its work in “the early part of 2014.” The company says that it’s whittled its list of candidates down to around 20, which still sounds like a surprisingly high number this late in the game. Leaked reports have suggested several different frontrunners for the job over the past several weeks although there now doesn’t seem to be any definitive favorite to land the job.
