When it comes to motion sensing cameras for video game consoles, Microsoft’s Kinect for the Xbox One has made headlines far more consistently than Sony‘s Eye for the PlayStation 4. In fact, it turns out that Sony had yet to unveil one very important detail regarding their camera — the Eye will feature “navigational voice commands,” one of the stand out abilities of the Kinect. Unlike the Kinect, however, the PS4 camera will not be bundled with the console.
After a video from the company’s GameStop Expo press conference appeared online, Polygon reached out to Sony and received the following statement: “Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm that PlayStation Camera allows for voice recognition and we will look forward to sharing more details in the lead up to the launch of PlayStation 4 on November 29 [the European release date].”
