T-Mobile USA may announce as early as next week that it will finally carry Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone. In a note to clients on Thursday, Merrill Lynch analyst Scott Craig reports “speculation is heightening” that Deutche Telekom will announce the iPhone’s imminent arrival on its subsidiary T-Mobile during next week’s analyst day meetings, scheduled to take place on December 6th and 7th. While T-Mobile hasn’t yet begun to roll out its new LTE network, the carrier has devoted a tremendous amount of resources to updating its HSPA data network in order to make it compatible with Apple’s current iPhone models. According to Fortune, Craig notes that a T-Mobile launch would add 33 million subscribers to Apple’s addressable market in the U.S., giving Apple access to 98% of all post-paid wireless subscribers in the country.
