Despite Apple’s (AAPL) agreement to license its patent portfolio to HTC (2498), Samsung (005930) has vowed to never settle their patent disputes. That move might not be very wise, however — in another blow to Samsung, a Dutch court has banned the sale of Samsung’s “Galaxy products that infringe on an Apple patent describing a way to scroll through a photo gallery using a touchscreen.” All Galaxy devices running Android 2.2.1 and higher that “don’t use Samsung’s proprietary photo gallery software” will be subject to the ban. Additionally, Samsung will be forced to pay Apple 100,000 Euros (about $129,000) every day it doesn’t comply with the device ban in the Netherlands. Apple and Samsung have been locked in a global patent war since April 2011 over various infringement claims. Many people, including an Australian judge, believe the companies’ patent war has been “ridiculous.”
