Google may dodge antitrust bullet after all as FTC reportedly wavers

Google (GOOG) executives might be able to relax a bit this Thanksgiving after all. Unnamed sources have told Bloomberg that regulatory officials at the Federal Trade Commission are now wavering “on whether they can prove consumers are hurt by the way [Google] ranks its search results.” Bloomberg’s latest report comes just over a month after Reuters reported that FTC officials were “convinced” that “Google illegally used its dominance of the search market to hurt its rivals.” The FTC’s investigation into Google was sparked by several businesses who alleged that Google was unfairly rigging its search results to favor its own services and websites over its competitors’.
