Google Fiber delivers cable-crushing 700Mbps download speeds to early adopter

Google Fiber Early Adopter

Google (GOOG) began rolling out its first residential fiber deployments in Kansas City on Tuesday and the verdict from one early adopter is in: This puppy is really fast. Kansas City resident Mike Demarais told Ars Technica that Google Fiber has consistently delivered download speeds in the 600Mbps to 700Mbps range on his Ethernet connection while delivering speeds in the 200Mbps range over Wi-Fi. Demarais also told Ars that the service has been “unbelievable” so far and that he’s “probably not going to leave the house” for the foreseeable future. Needless to say, we hope that Demarais’s experience is common among Google Fiber customers because we’d love to see Google bring this service to cities across the country.
