Mac Pro computers reportedly won’t boot after new OS X 10.7.5 Lion update

Mac Pro Boot 10.7.5 Snow Leopard Update

Wednesday was apparently not Apple’s (AAPL) best day when it comes to software updates. First, iOS 6 users were sent into a frenzy when Wi-Fi connections stopped working after they updated to Apple’s latest mobile OS. Thankfully, the problem turned out to be an issue with Apple’s website rather than iOS 6 itself, and the issue was resolved within about an hour. Now, what appears to be a far more significant issue has emerged following Apple’s release of OS X 10.7.5 Lion on Wednesday.

According to several accounts on Apple’s support forum and on a number of other forums, some Mac Pro users are unable to boot after installing Apple’s OS X 10.7.5 Lion update. To compound matters, standard solutions such as flushing the system’s PRAM and booting to a recovery partition do not appear to work. The problem seems to only affect older Mac Pro machines and no clear solution has been found at this point.

Apple has not publicly commented on the issue.
