Verizon puts employees on notice for iPhone 5 launch on September 21st

As if we needed any more confirmation, it seems that Verizon (VZ) has told its workers to black out September 21st as a vacation day due to the release of the next-generation iPhone. TechCrunch has talked with an anonymous source who says Verizon retail staff have been told not to request vacation days between Friday, September 21st and Friday, September 30th — likely so stores don’t get overwhelmed with customer demand for Apple’s (AAPL) latest smartphone. BGR revealed last week that AT&T (T) was also preparing for a late-September iPhone launch by instituting “an all-hands-on-deck policy in place for employees that will extend through to the middle of October.”
