Samsung’s Galaxy Note: So much more than just a smartphone

mobile

It’s no secret that BGR Editor-in-chief is not a fan of the direction Samsung took with its latest smartphone, but he may have been looking at the mammoth handset all wrong. ”The Galaxy Note’s tagline asks if the device is a tablet or a smartphone, but like a girl in Spanx, it’s so much more,” The TechBlock’s Abdel Ibrahim and Jon Dick said of Samsung’s giant Galaxy Note phablet. Smartphone popularity continues to explode around the globe and while these converged devices offer tremendous utility compared to feature phones, no other smartphone on the market can match versatility of the Note. Hit the break for a few images of some of the many functions Ibrahim and Dick found for the Galaxy Note, and follow the read link for a hilarious account of one man’s switch from the iPhone to Samsung’s supersized smartphone.

You dedicated article space to basically linking and summarizing an article from another blog that was just a sarcastic jab at the Note and a poor one at that?

This device will appeal to people (I have played around with it and it feels fine to me) and not to others. The free market will decide it’s fate.

Here is the scoop on smartphones for you and the rest of the people bound to comment after me who may not already know this but just feel the need to flame, make terrible jokes and just jump on a bandwagon that really means nothing in the grand scheme of things. The purchase of all devices made by different OEMs is a personal choice. Some choose the iPhone I chose a Galaxy S2. The iPhone works great. My GS2 works great. I think both have great apps and they both make phone calls. What I like MORE about the GS2 is rooting, customization, flashing ROMs, open app markets, the size of the display etc.

I like the UX of the Android Market better (I have an iPad and I cannot stand being kicked out of the market after every purchase or how it resets itself afterword sometimes). I hate the iOS keyboard (auto correct is terrible IMO) and the fact that I cannot change the keyboard except for the color bums me out.

This article, IMO, was basically a waste of time and a reiteration of the “editor-in-chief” of BGR just in a more satirical manner. BGR traditionally uses “fake-out” headlines to get people in and I admit it works but what is pushing me further and further from BGR is the adolescent, regurgitation of the same thing over and over as well as the lack of interaction between the writers and those who make comments. Try publishing less fluff, guesswork articles and try engaging your audience. You obviously have too much time…..what else could explain the above mess?

Adam Reid Hmm, well I read the second sentence where he gives credit to the article he’s talking about when he refers to The Techblock, so using proper reading comprehension I knew who he was referring to. In addition, just like every other BGR article, I scrolled down to see the link to the original article he refers to. I think you want so bad to jump on the “BGR Hate” bandwagon, you starting pulling things out your ass to talk crap about BGR, so I think I do know what I’m talking about.

I thought it was awesomely funny and I have ordered 3 Notes already. I believe the screen is still too small but I believe Samsung will take care of that soon with the new Galaxy Gigantor coming up in two months.

Ernesto L Maldonado I left out IMO which it is but as just proven, what you find funny I don’t. People have preferences.

Ernesto L Maldonado cracking up reading thetechblock.com article or the BGR article? cause the BGR article did nothing but highlight a different sites sarcastic view on the phone
