Siri co-founder Dag Kittlaus leaves Apple

Siri co-founder Dag Kittlaus has left Apple, AllThingsD reported on Monday. Kittlaus is said to have moved to Chicago to spend time with his family and to take time off from working. The report also notes that there are rumors Kittlaus is considering a new start up, though no details on the possible project were noted. Apple purchased Siri in April of last year and the software made its debut in iOS 5 during the iPhone 4S unveiling earlier this month. Siri allows users to interact with their iPhone to schedule appointments, check the weather, surf the web and more using voice commands. Reportedly, Kittlaus decided to leave Apple shortly after the iPhone 4S was launched while other members of the Siri team are expected to remain with Apple.

        As a heads up Android has had voice commands for years.  I have been sending texts, getting directions and checking weather long before the 4s was even thought of.

        As a heads up, Siri =/= voice commands. iOS had voice commands since the 3GS. Siri is virtual intelligence that uses natural voice recognition (nuance) as an input method.

    You trolldroids need to get back under whatever bridge or rock you crawled out from.  The best android phone (the ATT sgs2…yes because it has an Exynos…and as bad as ATT’s HSPA+ is…it’s better than CriMax) still isn’t as good as the iPhone 4.  You guys chose wrong when you renewed your contracts….ujellybro?

    Guy forms a startup, gets bought by Apple for millions, works with Apple on releasing the best-selling smartphone on the planet, and then retires super wealthy to pursue other interests.

    I’d say this guy did pretty well.

    Some people are only interested in starting things, and then moving on to the next big thing. Other people aren’t workaholics either, and want to enjoy their life.

      Exactly. This guy got his paycheck and is cashing out. He likely only stuck around this long because his deal with Apple required him to stay on until the launch of the 4s.
