Regional carrier C Spire Wireless to offer iPhone 4S

mobile

Until now, iPhone has only been offered by America’s largest wireless carriers but that will soon change when C Spire Wireless, formerly known as Cellular South, announced it will soon carry Apple’s iPhone 4S. C Spire Wireless, which offers nationwide roaming through an agreement with Sprint, did not reveal a specific launch date but said that pre-orders for the phone will begin in the coming weeks. We expect the pricing to be competitive with Sprint, Verizon and AT&T. The iPhone 4S offers a dual-core Apple A5 processor, an improved 8-megapixel camera capable of recording 1080p video, new Siri voice commands and more. Be sure to read our full review of the iPhone 4S for more on Apple’s latest smartphone, and hit the break for C Spire’s extremely brief press release.

I remember when the best argument a fanboy had about the AT& T iPhone was it wasn’t on regional carriers so poor people couldn’t get one because they couldn’t afford it. And I thought the poor got poorer over the last three years.

that’s weird, because I’ve never heard anyone use that line since the damn thing launched over 4 years ago.

      • Superego

        I heard it this morning.

Yeah, like you’ve actually heard someone spew that awful ‘arguement’ out of their mouth.

Yep, yep all iPhone owners are stuck-up little pricks who just walk around with their nose up.

Now if a regional carrier can afford to carry the iPhone…No way Sprint paid 20billion to Apple…..

    • Superego

Apple is desperate. T mobile needs to get on the ball.

The reason there was that rumor was because it was said to be a Sprint exclusive.

  • zacamandapio

So “C Spire Wireless” roams on Sprint.  Sprint roams on Verizon.
Does anyone have actual data speed tests on a CDMA iPhone “so called” 3G?

    • Superego

      Verizon roam in Sprint too

And no one cares whether the Nexus Galaxy DROID can run on any other carrier. Big surprise here.

    • Superego

Its 6 month Verizon exclusive. you will never see it on prepaid.

i just wonder what the cost will be most of the regional carriers are prepaid so the phones basically come at full retail price

    • Anonymous

Probably full retail since most offer no contract and most plans are very cheap. Or, phones get somewhat subsidized and regional carriers up the price of their plans.

If this was Apple’s prepaid answer, I’m sure they wouldve wanted to make a bigger splash.

      • Superego

With their relationship to Sprint. IPhone 4 will be on Virgin and Boost next year.

Cellular South (CSpire now) has some of the best plan prices anywhere (their plans with data are all unlimited data). They are the largest of the regional carriers and are a major player here. In fact, they have the only good coverage in Mississippi.

Well, finally, a phone that hiLlbiLly Sheep can get behind (baaaaa-haaaaaa-haàaa-àaa)!

  • Superego

Nexus and Razr Verizon exclusive. Iphone 4s for the rest. weird that Android is now market for the rich. And Apple for the poor.

    • Anonymous

What? You realize iPhone is on 3 2 of the most expensive carriers, right?

      • Superego

I also realize iPhone is available on prepaid but galaxy nexus or razr wont be (premium).

      • Carmen

They have postpaid at C spire

      • Superego

You can already get the iPhone 4s on at&t gophone. (prepaid) apple has set a new low.
