Samsung fishes for iPhone 4S customers with $2 Galaxy S II sale in Australia

The Apple iPhone 4S goes on sale in Australia on Friday and Samsung is ready to give it some competition from the get-go. According to The Sydney Herald, the South Korea-based phone maker set up a temporary pop-up shop two doors away from an Apple Store in Sydney, Australia. It then began to offer the Galaxy S II for just $2, which is valid for the first 10 people in line each day. It appears as though Samsung even has representatives trying to lure people away from the line that has been starting to form outside of the Apple Store. “There’s this guy who has come up to us trying to convince us to buy the Samsung Galaxy S II two days in a row now,” one person in Apple’s line said. “And he’s an idiot.” Samsung and Apple are currently fighting out a legal battle in the country, which has temporarily prevented local Samsung subsidiaries from selling or advertising the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet until a final court ruling.

      You don’t understand marketing and you really don’t understand business! They are coming against a brand and to get more consumers in your base, you sweeten the pot a little.       All I know is the guy who gets the phone for free does not lose anything as opposed to you who has to buy your iPhone for several hundred dollars.

      I will take a sgs2 any day for free as opposed to being a supporter of a company that doesn’t pay mean nothing.

    I am still in my 30-day trial period with my Samsung Galaxy SII and I have to say so far I am very impressed.  The device is super-fast, light and the screen is beautiful. I waited for the 4GS announcement and then decided I wanted something different and can always come back to Apple when the iPhone 5 comes out.

    Don’t knock this phone until you try it, you’ll be impressed.  I haven’t made a final decision on if I am going to keep this phone yet, but I do like it thus far.

        iPhones had been held up above the competition because their specs were years ahead of the rest. Now that Apple has come out with an iPhone that has specs so close to an already existing competitors product (and will likely be over taken within a generation), being a spec whore is now a bad thing.

      dude i like android..getting the 4S BUT there has never been a line for ANY android superphone or whatever you wanna call them.,just youtube some videos of android lines…its like 10 ppl MAX..and the galaxy nexus or whatever uses the same outdated SoC as the bionic and it has  a pentile screen so wtf are you talking about? ….also apple has like an 87% retention rate and the iphone 4S broke preorder records so i doubt that apple is dying…and yes i have an epic 4G touch and HATE it..android just doesnt run as good as iOS and dare i mention battery life?..yes theres extended batteries but who wants their phones to look like a brick?….rant over haha
