iOS 5 now available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Breaking

Apple on Wednesday made good on its promise to push out the release build of iOS 5 to consumers around the world. The new software is available for download immediately, and iTunes 10.5 is required in order to install the update. Owners of Apple’s iPhone 4 (GSM and CDMA), iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad and third and fourth-generation iPod touch handhelds have access to the new build, while owners of earlier devices will not be able to install the update. iOS 5 includes more than 200 new features such as a revamped notifications system, iMessage, built-in Twitter integration, Newsstand and more. Apple also released OS X 10.7.2 with iCloud support and two new iOS apps on Wednesday: Find My Friends, which can be downloaded by visiting iCloud.com on your iOS device, and AirPort Utility.

I have a 3Gs and have updated to the “new” iOS 5 – So what’s the big deal??

I fail to see what all the excitement is about – you really have to look for changes.

Reminders? – So what, I already have “2Do” and it is far superior in reminders/tasks.  So what else is improved?  Notifications  is nice and I can now bold some text in an email.  But that’s really it.   Just not worth all this B.S.   I just don’t really see any new functionality.   Big Yawn.

Apple took this update to a whole another level. It feels different this time around than past updates. I’m excited…

Is it just me, or is IOS5 on the original model iPad sluggish and buggy?  Anytime I use the keyboard, it’s slow to start and then stutters as I enter characters.  For the first time ever I have apps just blowing out on me (WSJ in particular).

After updating to 5.0 on my 32GB iPhone 4 which has 20GB free RAM, I got an error message that my SMS is full & I need to delete some text messages to receive new messages!!! I got tons of clients info and can’t just delete all my text messages. What a screw up on this area — Apple and/or AT&T!!! You are making my life so hard!!!
