Samsung Stratosphere hands-on

mobile

We briefly met up with Samsung in San Diego to check out the new Samsung Stratosphere, Verizon Wireless’ first 4G LTE device with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard was comfortable to type on without adding too much bulk to the device. The back of the phone looks a bit plain — it is just matte plastic, and we think there’s definitely room for improvement in the style department. Samsung equipped the device with a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen that displays beautiful colors and very deep blacks. It is equipped with a feature set that is a bit below that of the current Galaxy S II devices, such as a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, a 5-megapixel camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. We’ll reserve our final judgement for the review but we’re already fawning over the 4G LTE capability, sturdy hardware and solid keyboard. Be sure to check out the gallery below.

1.) Who still uses a physical QWERTY?  2.) Who still buys these crap android phones? 3.) When does iOS 5 actually become available to the general public?

I like a physical keyboard only on android because they are not user friendly when typing messages , on a iphone or ipad no issues, and i know i hate android as soon as the iphone 5 comes out with LTE i am kicking android out the door while driving, and as for IOS 5 Tomorrow 10/12/2011 but make sure your itunes is up to date with 10.5

Obviously you’ve never used Swype.  Or SlideIt.  Or any of the other billion keyboards available.

You know, that’s called choice…on Android.

The majority fo the world buys Android.  Crapple is only half as popular as Android.  Here is this months Comscore breakout:   Android’s market share increased 5.6 points to 43.7% during the three month period ending in August. iOS grew 0.7 points to a 27.3% share during the same period. Meanwhile, RIM dropped 5 percentage points to a 19.7%   As you can tell from the data that only 27.3% of the world is technologically inept.   Techies and consumers like are backing Android because of the better OS (Apple doesnt have a useful UI) and the more advanced phones.

1.) Pick up Springfield XD pistol with right hand.  2.) Point pistol at face.  3.) Pull trigger.

Kind of like how the iPHone looks the same…ON EVERY CARRIER GLOBALLY.

Even the ‘brand new one’ for 2011.  It looks the same…ON EVERY CARRIER GLOBALLY…FROM LAST YEAR.

        Wow.

    • homescrub

It would be, but with a smaller screen.

  • Stephen

    1. Go away iPhone trolls.
    2. Some people like a physical keyboard including me.
    3. I would get this if it were slightly better then the crappy charge I have

      …huh?

  • ImNotReallyAJerk

It’s a ritual.  Every LTE first has to be ugly and bulky looking.  Verizon’s first LTE USB modem, Thunderbolt etc.  Welcome to the ugly club you iPhone killer!  Great device for someone on Page Plus or something like that!

  • Bigfatsally

Oh my God!  1GHz processor?  1.3 MP front camera?  Battery draining LTE and no world support?  I’m getting orgasmic just thinking about it.

    • brandon holley

My god its like NOBODY can tell your being sarcastic right now………..

  • homescrub

Get rid of physical keyboards, shit they make phones look ugly.
