Quad-core Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2 tablet may be set for November 7th launch

Tablets

Asus’s followup to the popular Eee Pad Transformer tablet maybe be set for a launch early next month. The LambdaTek Component Shop currently lists the Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2, referred to as model number TF201-1I020A, for £537.85 including VAT. Other details on the retailer’s site are limited, though the Transformer 2 listing mentions a quad-core Tegra 3 processor from NVIDIA, 32GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, a 10.1-inch display and Android 3 Honeycomb. LambdaTek also lists an in-stock date of November 7th, suggesting we might finally see an official unveiling in the coming weeks. Asus CEO Jerry Shen reportedly said recently that the Eee Pad Transformer 2 will launch by year-end and will retail for $499, about 40% below the slate’s listed price on LambdaTek’s website.

It’s a poor mans iPad for people who want to save 100 dollars and steal apps via open source stealing that only DROID DOES.

      • Anonymous

It’s a tablet for someone that doesn’t want sucky ass iTunes and stupid apple products, that’s what the fuk it is.

Keep your dual core apple fanboy. I love my dual core transformer and a quad would be excellent.

    • Michael Scrip

      Exactly…

What exactly will people do with a quad-core tablet that they aren’t already doing with a dual-core tablet?

      • http://www.droiddoes.com/ Norm

Load widgets And custom ROMS faster omg!!!!

      • Anonymous

We should just open up app after app faster omg.  So nonsensical to have music and e-mail widgets.  Who the f would want to have a desktop-like experience on a tablet.  My god it’s a tablet.  It should be dumb. MRON=M-O-R-O-N omg.

      • guest

Damn man, get off your knees and wipe that “apple sauce” off your face will ya? I have never seen such a fanboy following since the xbots. Bet this guy has an Apple “tramp stamp”, maybe a good idea so the next time they’re about to bend you over they may give you a price break. Squeal real good and they may only charge you double what its worth.

Asks the stupid Ipad user who does not have 4 cores.

      • Michael Scrip

Nobody has 4 core tablets right now.

Does that make you stupid too?

      • Anonymous

Don’t worry, michael scrip has “useful device” envy. He can’t handle the fact that other devices are faster, so he lashes out with ignorant comments

      • Michael Scrip

“He can’t handle the fact that other devices are faster, so he lashes out with ignorant comments”

Only if having the fastest hardware specs validates you in some way…

        I’m still using a desktop with a Core2Quad 8300 I built 3 years ago.

It’s still fast as shit and I couldn’t be happier.

      • Anonymous

Do you know nothing about computers/processors? Because you act like you haven’t the slightest clue about them with comments like that. Imagine a world run by you, we would still have 56k modems and 128mb hard drives. “1 gig disk space?! What would one possibly do with that much storage?! Blasphemy! Witchcraft! “

      • Michael Scrip

        Yes I know about computers/processors.

I just don’t think the problem with Android tablets is they aren’t fast enough.

But you’re right… technology moves on and everything gets faster.

      • Anonymous

I won’t lie, I’m not even sure I need two cores.  But as a die-hard Superman fan, I swore on the souls of all of those doomed Kryptonians that I would buy whatever the first device is to launch with Nvidia’s Kal-El processor, and it’s looking like this will be it.

You are intelligent bringit…no! You’re not, jealous maybe, you feel the need to constantly belittle other products that are not made by your beloved crapple, it’s just so sad, You have an inferiority complex you never thought that android would surpass IOS so you try and convince others that IOS is superior, that gives it away right there that you feel IOS is inferior.Bringit=FAIL!

      IOW’s  ” I only buy what’s popular because I’m a mindless drone”

gotta love the dumbing down of our culture.

” LIke OMG  it likes has to be like an iPad , like right?, because that’s what is popular , like right?  Now let me put on my skinny jeans and I’ll meet you at Starbucks for a soy milk grande latte”

  • George

If blog comments are any indicator, there are lots of people who are fanatical about their Transformers, and in large part because of the price.  I don’t know what’s taking them so long to clog up these comments today…

    • His Shadow

If blog comments past is prologue, the level of interest in blogs among tween tech fans is inversely proportional to the actual sales that this device will generate. Unless it gets a firesale price a month after it’s releases.

  • TechFanNBuyer

    ASUS is Great # 1.
Can’t wait so I can buy!!!!

Unless 3.2 is a lot better than 3.0 and 3.1, I’d still just wait for Windows 8.

  • Guest

Hopefully this time next year we see a Windows 8 variant.

    • TimMcGraw

      Why windows 8?

      • Guest

        Because I don’t want a laptop/tablet running Android?

      • Anonymous

Agreed. Mobile OS FTL on tablets. iPad sucks too

  • Anonymous

Dang my TF is pretty fast so this thing will be extra extra fast

    • Captain_Kirk

      And hopefully better…

  • Duck Tales LOL

So will Android still be laggy with a quad core processor?

    • http://www.droiddoes.com/ Norm

yes,  Only at 8 cores will the lag dissipate.

      • Duck Tales LOL

Are you sure the tablet will even turn on with 8 cores? I heard it would take 16.

      • Anonymous

apple FTW   Yeah   Blacked Rimmed Glasses for ALL   LATTE’S   lIKE YEAH

        TWEENERS UNITE

  • GeekPatrol

if one buys the asus transformer 2 running android, can windows 8 be installed when it comes out?

    • Anonymous

Anyone that tells you they know the answer to that is lying

    • Discontent619

No because the processors that run android and windows 8 are different architectures. To run windows asus would have to make an x86 processor variant.

  • Anonymous

A quad-core tablet lol. There’s nothing in the world that can be done on a tablet that is going to need the power of 4 cores. More useless spec shit. Instead of working on something that runs smooth and runs right.

    • Anonymous

until the iPad get’s a year latter then all of sudden it’s  the greates spec ever.  Oh I forgot for iSheep it’s not about the specs until it is.

who needs a dual core on a phone, specs are only for the geeks ,  the iPhone runs smooth  wait what’s that?  the iPhone 4s is running a dual core, HOLY CRAP  that changes everything again, it’s magical,  awesome specs. Yeah

      phonies

    • Anonymous

Yeah because smooth is what counts. OSX is real smooth….windows still effs them with a 90% marketshare. Apple is hardly a blip on the radar. And with thinking like yours we’d still have 56k modems and 128mb hard drives. Why are apple people so panicked by hardware progress? If apple is soooo infallible, why do you concern yourself with commenting when us silly non-applers like more power?

      • Captain_Kirk

Because Apple is the world’s most valuable company. You should take heed to the world’s greatest company which has yet to do anything original…Hey! Look we can take free BSD code and make a nice clunky GUI for dumb people, overcharge for it and say how original we are…All Apple has done. Is package stuff in a nice shell using outdated hware and made a shit ton of money fooling people into thinking they have something they don’t.

  • Hi!!!

I guess we will have to wait for the W8 version of this, see you on 2012 if we dont die first.

God I’m tired of all the bashing from people with obvious bias towards their device/OS of choice. It’s far worse than the XBOX 360 vs. PS3 days. Why can’t people just be happy that technology is advancing and that you have a choice on which device is suitable for your lifestyle? It reminds me of the [my team] vs. [opponent's team] mentality you see at sports games and sports forums.

I, for one, purchased the original ASUS Transformer during a tax-free weekend. It’s far exceeded my expectations and I am very happy to have purchased it at such a great price. I would have been just as happy with an iPad, but decided that the Transformer was a much greater value and it worked out great. From my 3-month experience, Android Honeycomb is a very underrated OS. It is quick, polished, stable, and the UI is superb. I have a feeling that the majority of ‘fanboys/fangirls’ that bash Android & Honeycomb never really had the opportunity to use the system.
