iPhone 4S hits Apple website, on sale October 14th

Apple will unveil its latest iPhone offerings beginning at 1:00 p.m. Eastern today, but that has not stopped a few leaks of the iPhone 4S from popping up on its website. Apple’s Japanese website already lists a new “iPhone 4S” and says that the phone will be available starting at 8:00 a.m. on October 14th. The device will look nearly identical to the iPhone 4 — as can be seen in the image above, also from Apple’s Japanese site — and it will be available in both white and black.     I don’t understand why the delay in releasing a 4s if it was just the same form factor with a couple of internal upgrades.  Something doesn’t add up…

      I work for a defense contractor and making a slight change to an establish design can cause havoc.  I am guessing most of the guts are very similar and Apple probably has an army of engineers to work on it; however, there are always unforeseen issues and manufacturing issues that come along, especially with RF.  With that said, I am a bit underwhelmed about this upgrade.  I don’t have an iPhone and was set on getting the iPhone 5, but now I am not sure.  If I get the 4s and the 5 comes out 6 months to a year I will be SOL and have to wait another year when my contract runs out.  What to do…

    To be honest I’m a massive fan, but the 4S really doesn’t make me feel like I want to upgrade. The Siri could probably be got from cydia via a tweak soon enough, I can’t really see where the A5 will be used as my iPhone 4 is fast enough now, and there’s nothing else major. The camera looks nicer, but not £600 nicer. Oh well, I just gotta hope the iPhone ’5′ gets 4G/LTE (And the UK Networks get LTE/4G!)
