Apple posts video of ‘Let’s talk iPhone’ event

mobile

A record number of visitors dropped by BGR on Tuesday for our coverage of Apple’s press conference, but there’s nothing like seeing all the action for yourself. As such, Apple has posted video of today’s “Let’s talk iPhone” event, during which it unveiled a new iPod nano, a new iPod touch, Siri and of course, the iPhone 4S. Curious to see how new Apple chief Tim Cook did in his first event at the helm full time? Interested in seeing Apple’s Siri demos? Wondering how the crowd responded when it realized there was no iPhone 5? A link to Apple’s video follows below.

No one wants to watch a video about a phone they’ve already seen for 16 months!

I know right!! Although DROID releases the same internals 50 different ways at least they repackage it differently so we can tout freedom!!!!

i’ve actually never looked at it like that. good point. i have always appreciated the crazy lengths Android makers go to differentiate themself (even if TouchWiz and Sense is the only separator in some cases).

I agree with you totally…..I was so excited about being able to buy the Iphone on Sprint for the first time with a 4.3 or .5 inch screen.   I bough the Galaxy S II Touch when It first came out a couple of weeks ago but returned it due to it not having the NFC chip. Everything else about the device was great though, so after today’s announcement I think I will buy it again, or wait a couple of weeks to see if the Google Nexus Prime will launch on Sprint in November.  The Nexus Prime is basically the same phone as the Samsung Galaxy S II, with not carrier boatware and it will also have a NFC…if the reports are correct.   I just don’t understand where those pictures of the Iphone 5 enlarged cases come from, was it just a mock up to throw  people off??  If anyone else has opinions on this please reply!

    Deja Vu

    • sirpaul

Pretty much. I love how 80% of the announcement was spent repeating old specs from previous models that were not changed. Or iOS features that already got their own, separate event.

It would have sounded bad to say “oh yeah, the only new thing with the iPod touch is a white face, and new clock faces for the nano”.

You know a keynote is bad when 1/4 of the claps occur at the showing of a Mikey Mouse clock face.

I’ve been a fan of this blog for like 9 months nd i’ve never written a comment cos u guys comments r funny enough, but 4 god sake can someone ask who ever is updating this website to allow the iphone posts, Its obvious apple would release a video of the event nd i think anyone smart enough to find this blog should be able to find the apple video if they need it.

I am glad it was not what I was hoping for because I want to try the Windows Phone when the new PC operating system comes out.  It will be sweet to have a phone that can act as if it were made to be a part of my PC and my Xbox!  That is IF…  and I say IF, Microsoft does it right.

“Wondering how the crowd responded when it realized there was no iPhone 5?” This video is edited to cut off before the crowd reaction and even before Cook’s speech is done! Apple damage control?

  • I Heart BGR

Didnt BGR post that “apple is releasing 2 iphones and here’s why”????

    • sirpaul

Everyone, not just BGR, was expecting an iPhone 5 alongside a slightly upgraded iPhone 4. We all love to slam BGR, but truth is this was a surprise for everyone.

  • Anonymous

where the f@ck is the iphone 5 BGR???

  • Anonymous

Y is everyone surprised about it just being the 4S…Apple always creates the updated edition before releasing new hardware…c’mon its been this way since 07.

    • Renato Fontes

The problem this time is that they waited more than a year to release this…
And NONE of their products were new

      WTF

same ipod touch, slightly software update for ipod nano… lower prices acknowledging their lack of innovation

      • sirpaul

        And…no updated classic or a new high-capacity player (100GB+).

    • fillyo

The problem is that technology moves way faster, this is less than innovative.

    • sirpaul

We expected 2 designs though. One updated, and one alternative “iPhone 5″ with new form factor and feature set. If at least they’d have been brutally honest with what was happening, and stopped trying to sugar it up, the keynote would have been twice as good, and wasted less of my time. I love Apple events because they are exciting, usually quite short and to the point. Well, not this one.

Basically, they should have either made a new or greatly updated OS (iOS 5 is great and all, but still doesn’t compare to Android), or new form factor.

Whatever, I’m sure they will do alright. Sales will be down, but iPhone isn’t going anywhere for at least another 2 years. And I doubt anyone will be disappointed with what’s coming next :)

  • Flippy

I was super pissed reading all the announcements today, but I watched the video (sloooow day here) and the new features look pretty badass. I don’t think this phone is going to do anything but good things for apple. Me want.

  • Erk

Apple just gaffed, here’s why. What does the 4s “do” that the iPhone 4 does not? While the 3GS was an “incremental” update, it offered several features that were not simply improved upon over the 3G, they were completely absent! Video recording, compass guided maps, these were big factors in deciding to upgrade. So far as I can tell, the 4s doesn’t “do” anything the 4 does not, it simply improves already existing features. I hope the sales are underwhelming and force apple to reconsider this strategy they’ve now used since 2008, but it won’t. The sheep are already lining up…

    • Erk

Only the 4s is getting siri, I’m retarded. Withholding software that would absolutely run hiccup free on the a4, what was I thinking…

  • Anonymous

Sorry Apple, you painted yourself into a corner with your standard model
so apps would work well. Now you can’t change without losing your app
advantage. Android & RIM made you fold.

    • Smitty44

Go swing on some RIM nuts douchebag. How’s that RIM stock price and marketshare doin for ya? bahaaahahaa

  • tg4s

The greatest invention in 21st century!!! Apple should have buy a national TV spot to release this incredible new product.
