Tweaked iPhone 4, white iPod touch rumors reinforced by Apple inventory leak

SKUs for a revised iPhone 4, believed to be the iPhone 4S, and new iPod touch SKUs have surfaced in Apple’s inventory system, 9to5Mac reported on Wednesday. The iPhone 4 SKUs reinforce rumors that Apple will introduce a watered-down version of the device, perhaps with just 8GB of memory, as the budget-friendly “iPhone 4S.” The listings also lend credence to early analyst reports that suggested Apple will not make any hardware changes to the iPod touch. Apple may instead only introduce a white version of the popular media player. According to 9to5Mac, Apple lists a new “N90A” codename in its system, which likely represents a small upgrade from the original iPhone 4 (the N90). The two SKUs for the phone may represent white and black 8GB models. The iPhone 5 has not yet popped up in the inventory, it seems. Additionally, 9to5Mac reported Apple is now listing three new iPod touch models with the codename “N81A.” The SKUs are expected to represent white versions of the current 8GB, 32GB and 64GB models. Apple will unveil its latest iPhone devices, and likely the white iPod touch, during its press conference on October 4th. BGR will be reporting all of the Apple news as it breaks.

    iPhone 4 is awesome! But is it necessary to upgrade it to iPhone 4S?

      I suppose it’s necessary if Apple needs to build something they can build cheaper…for whatever reason.

      The iPhone 4 maybe a slightly tweaked device, maybe metal back instead of glass and change to a hybrid CDMA/GSM chip with 8GB memory meant for entry level price point like the 3G S but AT&T dropped the price further to compete with Verizon.

      It could also be a tweaked iPhone 4 of cheaper build materials that will sell to carriers for less so they can push it for free and it can also hit prepaid carriers for full price which would be half the price of the iPhone 5 premium edition.

    I am going to laugh my ass off next tuesday when they show a completely new iphone 5. The only reason why people think that it’s going to be a iphone 4s or whatever is because of what they did with the 3gs. Not gonna happen this time around while the iphone 4 is great and still the best phone in the world it had to much bad press.

    I am excited for October 4th, because for one I want to see what Apple has in store.  Also though, it will be cool to not see an iPhone rumor on this website for AT LEAST one day.

      who say’s? It say’s it hasn’t popped up into Apple’s inventory system yet. The “N90A” codename presents a tweaked iPhone 4, this simple could be a cheaper model destined for pre-paid and free on a contract.It maybe just a  tweaked iPhone 4 that will replace the 3G S as the entry level iPhone.

    8gb is way too small if you put any video on the phone. This sounds like a bait and switch product. Get them in the store for the iphone4, a certified poorly performing phone, and then get them to buy the iphone5, which presumably won’t suck like the iphone4.
