Blockbuster Movie Pass streams unlimited content, but only for Dish subscribers

Services

Dish Network on Friday announced the upcoming availability of Blockbuster Movie Pass, an unlimited video streaming service akin to Netflix’s “Watch Instantly.” Beginning October 1st, Dish subscribers will have unlimited access to a small library of digital content that they can stream to a PC or to a TV using a standard Dish set-top box. While Netflix is moving in a completely different direction, having just spun off its DVD rental service to focus on streaming, Dish is sticking with the multi-pronged approach as Blockbuster’s best bet. “We’ve created a package that combines the best assets of the movie entertainment and video gaming industries with the convenience and integration provided by a multichannel video provider,” said Blockbuster president Michael Kelly in a statement. “Blockbuster Movie Pass is the ultimate programming package for every movie buff. The combination of DVDs by mail and unlimited in-store exchanges provides more than 100 million people living near Blockbuster stores, which are open 7 days a week, immediate satisfaction and unmatched choice.” Dish’s full press release follows below.

Too bad its with Dish. If a down and out company like blockbuster could provide close to what netflix was doing prior to the increase/split, I could envision a mass exodus and turning the tails on netflix all together.

But how fat is Johnathen?  Do we need anymore of the pics with the camera facing down to hide his grotesque double chin?

      • Anonymous

Jonathon doesn’t have to be a male model, the kid probably has more money than you…  No, pretty sure he does.

      • Large_Farva

But who cares how much money you have when your fat and ugly??? You’ll never be happy going through life as a fat douchebag.

      • Anonymous

        Seriously, get a grip, dude.

        Uhhh… no?

    • TheContenderio

Dish is not bad, really. The other cable companies are too greedy to do this, they want all the money for themselves.

Genius! This clearly has the makings of a “Super-successful” business-model, that couldn’t possibly fail! Ya right! lol! Blockbuster’s been finished for a while now, they just finished closing any remaining stores & “fire-saled” the inventory for “peanut” prices. If you want to know how to completely destroy your business, follow: RIM, Nokia, Palm, Blockbuster & HP! At this point, they seem like “experts”.

    • Large_Farva

How fat is Johnathen Geller? 200?  300? He is at least 300ney?

IMO, this move does not help BB get the needed boost to survive even under Dish.

    ASIANS CAN ACTUALLY READ MINDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they can hear, and see what your visually thinking
    this is the complete truth

the reason alot of asians have completely expressionless faces, only associate with asians and dont associate with non asians very much is to avoid accidentally revealing that they can read read minds, if all over a billion asians were to show facial expressions all the time just as much as non asians, associate with non asians much more, and be much more friendly and talkative, then alot of them might accidentally reveal that they can read minds by accidentally showing a facial expression or dirty look when someone thinks, or visually pictures something in their mind they dont like or find astonishing or funny, and if they were all to associate with non asians alot more there would be alot more people around for them to accidentally show facial expressions when those other people think things they dont like, so they only associate with asians so there wont be anyone around for them to see that and have any accidents happen in the first place

think about it, its not normal how alot of them act, and the entire way they act is all to hide their mind reading abilities, it makes perfect sense to do all of that to hide that they can read minds, because all of that is the perfect way to do it!
every single asian on the planet is hiding their mind reading abilities, they will lie about having mind reading abilities forever!
because they value hiding their mind reading abilities more then their own lives!
thats why nobody knows about it!

try thinking, best yet visually picturing in your mind something something absolutely crazy as you possibly can when you are around asians, and try looking for asians who give people particular looks, especially dirty looks for what appears to be for completely no reason, that is them giving people looks when they hear and visually see someone thinking something they dont like, find funny or astonishing
it still happens despite a large number of them having completely expressionless faces all the time, it would just happen alot more if none of them had completely expressionless faces all the time, its not uncommon!

i know this sounds crazy, impossible, and completely unbelievable, BUT IT ISNT CRAZY WHEN ITS TRUE

the reason you think this truly is crazy, impossible and unbelieveable is because our society has propagandized people into believing that nothing extra ordinary is real and that is really is impossible, and that its crazy to think that its true that people can read minds, all just to cover up that asians can read minds! who says that cant exist? the people who have mind reading abilities who are trying to cover it up!

you have to spread the message!!!
the world has to know about this!!!!

Dude, I dont know what your smokeing but I want some, lol, there’s always one….

    Blockbuster needs to die.

  • Anonymous

I see this is a smart business strategy.

It will probably retain Dish subscribers. Which is the main focal point of Dish Network right now. For what? 10 a month….a customers gets a method to watch TV & Movies in a variety of different methods which they may not be able to do w/Direct TV.

This could probably allow a customer to choose a lower package and cut out some of the fluff channels

All the while Dish now has people using this service and even potentially venturing inside Blockbuster again…and maybe while they’re in there, they’ll buy the over-priced foods or see a cheap dvd they can’t pass up….

Win/win/win/win/wins. The slashings of blockbuster have already occurred so I bet they’re going to have a high chance at turning a profit on this…

What dish fails to tell you folks like me, is that blockbuster isn’t compatible with there VIP 922 or the 611 dvr’s. The 922 is a slingloaded dvr with a terabyte of memory. Very nice box. It was never made to be compatible with logictech revue, even though they swore it would be. So new customers, beware!

Dish has a nice base of customers. I suppose this is a decent jumping
off point for Blockbuster to build up their streaming business, but
they’ll eventually have to move beyond Dish only to truly compete with
Netflix. That being said, Netflix continues to do a great job of
    shooting themselves in the foot.
