Samsung GALAXY Tab 8.9 now available for pre-order starting at $469.99

Tablets

While Samsung’s tablets continue to run into Apple-shaped walls abroad, the South Korea-based electronics giant’s latest Android tablet is now available for pre-order at Best Buy here in the U.S. Announced at CTIA back in March, the GALAXY Tab 8.9 is positioned between Samsung’s 7-inch tablet and its flagship 10.1-inch slate, the GALAXY Tab 10.1. It runs Android 3.1 Honeycomb and includes 1GB of memory along with either 16GB or 32GB of storage, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and an 8.9-inch WXGA display. Both Tab 8.9 models are now available for pre-order on Best Buy’s website, and pricing lines up with the previously announced $469.99 (16GB) and $569.99 (32GB) price points. No launch date is provided on the Best Buy website.

I refuse to buy a tablet from Sammy or MOTO until there is MicroSD functionality on
it; if I wanted an iNcomplete tablet I’d buy an iPad – True Story™®©

My Galaxy Tab 7″ has microSD….

Thanks for reminding me; I kinda’ wanted a bigger screen but, if all the new tablets come sans MicroSD, I may just break down and get a Tab 7″ (GSM, of course) – :)

        ,. awesome

I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prîces at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for.

Yes the iPad. The most incomplete best selling dominant tablet in the world.

Yet they lost 30% market share in the last 6 months…more to come…

I am an Apple hater but the fact that some other manufacturer got new clients into a new 18 months old market without Apple losing customers doesnțt escatly count as loosing.

Wow how original. You come up with that all by your self?

Funny that the 7.7incher has a Micro slot and the larger ones don’t…

I know right; it’s probably because it’s easier to flash and install custom ROMS via a MicroSD card [than it is to manually do it through PC Mode]… iPad users wouldn’t know about that, they have a hard enough time with iToonz – True Story™®©

B.S. both iPad and iPad2 are a rip-off of a samsung design from back in 2007.

Note to tablet makers: $300 is the sweet spot.  $500 tablets do not sell unless there is a Apple logo on it.  That is all.

    • Anonymous

I would argue “an Apple EcoSystem thrown in for free” instead of logo.

But yes, the ‘tablet’ market ends at $299.99.  Above that it’s an ‘iPad’ market, till about $900, then it’s “MacBook Air” Market

      Notebooks need not apply.;-)

who has dibbs on $349 in 2 months ?

  • http://www.TheGuruReview.net TGR

Iguess none of these tablet makers are learning anything from HP.  These devices will not sell at said price.

  • VirginMerry

    Why???

  • J Dub

Maybe if it had microSD and the updated Exynos chipset. I don’t want no stinkin Tegra 2.

    • Scott Duffy

Quit crying about Tegra 2. It’s more than fast enough. And it’s not like there is anything in the Android market that could even use a dual core. Maybe Google needs to learn how to optimize their software…

    So….$30 for 1.2″ difference? Yeah, that’s what she said….FAIL.

You’d have thought they would have learned not to overprice their tablet offerings by now.  If your entry level is more expensive than the cheapest iPad2 than don’t even bother.

    • Anonymous

Samsung is counting on people thinking it’s an iPad. lol

  • Er2313

Why so expensive for a 8.9 inch tablet?  It will fail just like the 10.1 model…
