Hands on with the BlackBerry Curve 9360

mobile

During a press event in New York City on Wednesday night we met up with Research In Motion to check out the BlackBerry Curve 9360, the latest of its BlackBerry OS 7 devices. Unlike the Torch 9850/9860 and the Bold 9900, the Curve 9360 does not offer a touchscreen display. This wasn’t a deal breaker, though, as it was one of the nicest Curve models we’ve seen to date. The 9360, which had Rogers branding, had the same top-notch keyboard as the Curves that came before it, although we prefer the Bold 9900 keyboard just a bit more. The interface felt rather smooth but we’re still not excited about the lackluster operating system. Sprint has announced that it will carry the device in the U.S. for $49.99 on contract, but it recently bumped the launch date from September 9th to sometime in October for unknown reasons. Our DSLR was on the fritz so we had to use a good old point-and-shoot, but nonetheless, be sure to check out the full gallery below.

      RIM isn’t dead- THEY’RE FUCKED!!

  • Scott Duffy

Sure has a lot of finger prints on the screen for it not being a touch screen…

Lol… yes that’s exactly the reason for that… i watched a few video reviews of the Curve 9360 Blackberry and, well it’s something… you see how people try to play with the OS and then “Ho .. umm.. s you can see no touch screen” ….

RIM is so dead. If they keep on going like this they’re going to get bought out fairly soon.

Oh my god. What a piece of crap. Even if they “shipped” 20 million of these next quarter They would lose money. Haha. Ok all joking aside, RIM is a C U Next Tuesday hair away from becoming a money losing company. If sales slip below 10 million phones (maybe more like 9.5 mill) next quarter it will happen. Lazyridis and Ballzsillie better pray to the hockey gods that bb7 phones are in everyones Christmas stocking this year or they may find themselves on the chopping block.  true story™©®

2010 called, they want their phone back.

    • Cer

      2008 called first.

      • Oh dear…

There’s a Mr Eddison on the line muttering something about infringement of his design patent….. :-)

Wow. RIM is in DEEP trouble. They have released a slew of devices that all fall into the same category. JUNK. The Curve, the 9850 and 9900 series phones, and the CrapBook are ALL purely and simply, JUNK. How pathetic. DIE RIM DIE !!!

    • Steve Jenkins

Your mom called, she needs her netbook back…

  • Smokey

Wow this is revolutionary. Rim just keeps pushing the envelope.

    • Oh dear

yes there are at least 2000 employees who had an envelope pushed at them….

For a company with declining sales of often lackluster devices they sure do seem to be spreading themselves pretty thin. Too many models. Only one that seems to really stand out as something special.

    • Oh dear

yep and now two ENTIRELY different operating systems to develop and support……

Unless of course they kill BB6&BB7 and leave those users swingin’ in the breeze…. But RIM wouldn’t do a thing like that?? …………… would they?

  • Cer

Chances this gets anything more than a 6 when the review comes out? 0%?

people here are retarded.  this is an entry level phone that they sell the shit out of every year.  its not supposed to be an amazing phone, just get the job done and it does that well.  intelligence level around here is horrible

      1) Punctuation or lack thereof is a good indicator of intelligence.
      2) The point that RIM is in trouble has been well documented and affirmed by Wall Street, the share price, market share, profits per sale and new users gained in the last couple of quarters.
      3) An entry-level phone isn’t going to help solve RIMs problems (a lack of desirability and inability to attract developers to write apps for their platform – whatever they decide that is).
      4) The intelligence of certain readers around here *is* horrible. The ability to write properly also.
      5) Lists should always consist of odd numbers.

      The End.

    • Oh Dear

Yes – rioters of the World rejoice !!

Everyone else – move along nothing for you to see here.

  • TOMMMMMM

RIM, please fix your wack numbering scheme.  The Tour (9630) came out over two years ago. Why release as 9360? What does that even mean???

      6) I have no 6 but your list was such a good put down I am hoping you can do a 7  :-)

      1) This is a thread not an essay for your English teacher so who gives a shit

      2) Agreed RIM is in trouble and it’s all the fault of Twiddle Dumb and Twiddle Dumber

      3) They don’t sell phones they sell pieces of crap get it right

      4) Considering you’re ranting about punctuation on a blog means you’re a bigger idiot

      5) Lists should always be even not odd

      6) When doing a list space each point one line apart for a neater appearance

That is all have a nice day :)

      • Oh dear….

excellent! though I think ISMVIL still just pips you at the post.

    • Charles Griggs

      • Steve Jenkins

        they use iPhones?

      • Shhhhh….

only in secret when Mike isn’t looking ;-)

Whats up with that Budweiser in the picture?  Was this review tainted by your potential inebriation?

I think people might forget that the world doesn’t consist solely of North America. This will probably sell really well in places like Indonesia and South America, where texting rates are high, BBM costs less to use, and customers just don’t care about anything much more than a keyboard, a camera and a solid form factor.
