J.P. Morgan raises 2011 tablet forecast, Apple iPad to remain top dog

Business

J.P. Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz sent a note to investors on Thursday in which he said he is raising his 2011 tablet shipment forecast to 51.9 million units, up 13% from his original prediction. Moskowitz believes Amazon’s tablet, which may launch in November for $250, “could be interesting” and it may be the first tablet to truly rival the iPad, MarketWatch noted. “While the OS is likely to remain a weak spot on an Amazon device, we believe the brand name, content and distribution capabilities of Amazon pose risks to Apple’s dominance of the tablet market,” Moskowitz wrote. Amazon is expected to pre-load the tablet with its Unbox streaming video offering, Cloud Drive storage service and its own music and app stores. Apple’s iPad and iPad 2 tablets currently own more than 70% of the tablet market and Moskowitz says second place is still up for grabs. “We are still awaiting the emergency of a clear number two player, though this may not happen until the launch of Windows 8 in 2012,” he said. “In our view, smartphones and tablets are hurting PC growth, as consumers are being distracted by the array of higher-capability device options available. In addition to the cannibalization effect, we believe that tablets, plus smartphones, are resulting in consumers deferring PC purchases.”

wooow really awesome ,I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use fun.ly/wf2z

I like tablets. But not the kind this article is referring to.

I don’t think acid tabs should be counted in this though.

iPads are great as are many of the Android tablets on the market.  They both have their strengths and weaknesses.  I currently own several Android tablets but I could just as easily own an iPad.

Maybe you should ask Google to come up with a good idea for once. Then you won’t be here crying about it.

    I am iPad…  I am top dog… Hear me roar…  AARROO-OO!!!

What consumer with even a lick of common sense honestly wants any tablet except an iPad?  Buying any Android tablet is like buying a Microsoft Zune which means only a handful of consumers will buy an Android tablet because they either hate anything with an Apple logo or because they can’t afford an iPad.

Actually, unless you bought an HP on firesale, the android tabs tend to be more expensive. Lol
