Seriously? Who even cares!  Blackberry Apps blow hard.

The only thing worse than the apps…. THE STORE!

    • Anonymous

Well, if the only thing worse than the apps is the store, I suppose upgrading the store would be a good thing.

      • Steve Jenkins

        shhhhh…..your making to much sense…

        touche….

although I would still consider it a “fruitless” effort….no?

its actually a nice upgrade compared to the previous version… the app store content however is still missing a lot of ‘basic’ stuff… heres to hoping the QNX phones and platform won’t have those issues!

Agreed. After 3 years of BlackBerry I swapped for an Android device. Completely stunned by how much better the Android market was in breadth and quality. The odd thing is that I’ve also found it a lot easier to use too. It just works.

Wow, imagine if you had switched to the iPhone, considering that same stark contrast is there between the Android Market and the App Store. Actually, it’s probably a good thing. Your mind might not been able to handle it.

      • Not Appy

Steven, I have to confess that the exact same thought did cross my mind too. A lot of people say iPhone is even slicker. I haven’t really spent time with an iPhone but can see that it looks great. I kind of feel like a man whose just moved from horse and cart to one of those new fangled automobiles…..;-) Once I learn to drive I’ll consider a Ferrari till then I’m so happy with my (ok it was also pretty cheap) Android device. Kicking myself for not jumping sooner.

Please tell me they finally updated it so PANDORA is available??!!

    • http://crackberry.com/ CrackBerry Bla1ze

You realize that it is up to Pandora, and their licensing agreements with content providers to update it and make it available — not RIM, right?! lol.

      • Gadgetperson

Well they don’t have this problem on ios or android. When a new phone comes out all the important apps are already compatible. It is partly rims fault for not having as tight developer relations.

      • http://crackberry.com/ CrackBerry Bla1ze

Well, at least now you’re making sense.. your first comment made none. You implied the updating of App World would some how magically make Pandora available which, obviously it doesn’t. It’s still up to Pandora to make the app available and realistically since BB 7 remains for the most part unchanged, all they should really have to do is log into the BlackBerry App World vendor portal and change the compatibility list to include BB7.

Not exactly a whole lot of developer relations needed there — just some common sense on Pandoras part. Developers were advised to check, and subsequently update their apps if needed long ago.

As for the iOS and Android comments.. when Apple releases their one phone per year, it’s rather easy to maintain an app, provided they never changed anything within iOS itself that would affect the core app. Android — well, Android can release all the new phones they want, they are now slowly reaching the point where all new phones launched are all on the same OS any so not many changes need to be implemented within apps — if any.

But, I digress… you should try Rdio, lol. Their app already works with BB7 devices and they have an iOS, Android version. :)

Its not a matter of tight developer relations, its a matter of how the app stores work. Android, iOS, and Windows Phone are forward compatible by default – meaning, you can make an app have a minimum version, but by default, it will work on everything newer than that. AppWorld does not work that way – the developer has to explicitely say that the newer version will work. I find this practice a bit odd on RIM’s part, but at the same time, how lazy are the developers that they can’t go in and make the change?

      • Rudy

        To expand…

The problem is where you live.  Pandora is only available in US and UK.  You can thank the CRTC if you are Canadian for being pre-historic idiots.  I know for a fact Pandora is available on AppWorld, you just need to use apps like HotSpot Shield to get it.

That said – I wish RIM would open up their VPN access to allow for OpenVPN’s, I would be using Pandora up here in Canada all day long!

    • Applesucksfatties

You mean you’ll stick with your iToy?  Hopefully you’ll get reception (with the antenna issues an all) while you are trying to message somebody or download apps OTA….oh wait, your iToy doesn’t have either function.

Don’t forget having to REBOOT YOUR PHONE to install/upgrade apps. That’s a wonderful experience!

I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use Meta Cent. c0m

  • Shane

Wow…App World 3.0 is so cool.  I had no idea it could be this great.  Good job RIM.
