Tablets

AT&T’s latest Android tablet, the HTC Jetstream, is now available from AT&T for $700 with a two-year data contract. AT&T announced Android 3.1-powered tablet last week and it is equipped with a 10.1-inch display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, an 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats. AT&T will include the HTC Scribe pen with each purchase at no cost for a limited time. The Jetstream is also available for $849.99 for customers looking to purchase the tablet without a contract.

I just got a $ 830 iPad2 for only $ 104.38 and my mom got a $ 1500 HDTV for only $ 252.93, they are both coming with FedEx tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 38″ HDTV to my boss for $ 600 that I only paid $ 79.22 for. I use http://alturl.com/8dpyq

    LoL… $700 on contract?? DOA!

  • Scott

$700 must mean it’s a more luxurious tablet than anything out. Whatever!! HTC what are you smoking?

  • Flintchesthair

The new HTC Jetstream! It comes equipped with blah blah blah blah blah blah blah……$700??!?!??!?…ON CONTRACT?!?!?!??!?!???

  • Yasha

$700 for a tablet and on contract? I think I’ll stay with apple for $499 and no contract, HTC is really mistaken, I will never pay that much for a tablet, let alone on contract!

    • Eric

You should have at least compared it to the price of an iPad that does 3G and not the WiFi only iPad price.

The only possible explanation of this pricing is that AT&T is trying to make the penalty money of 6 Billion to T-Mobile.

Do they really want to sell this thing???

My iPhone 4 was £510 ($822) off-contract. On contract I got mine for £69 ($111) (£441/$711 discount) and £30($48)/mo. (Taxes included, of course). In the UK we get raped on prices. But….

AT&T want to give just a $150 off this POS? Pulllllease!! Why would anyone pay $700 for that? A phone contract is supposed to reduce the device price significantly. $150 on contract would be about right, not $150 off.

There is no “tablet market”, there’s only an “ipad market”. You think my mom has ever heard of an htc flyer, or knows what honeycomb is? 5 yrs ago, I showed up to the gym with an archos mp3 player, and everyone around me all had ipods, and never heard of archos. Same thing today with tablets. The ipad is the ‘default’ standard now (already) for tablets just like the ipod was the default standard for digital music. Apple owns this already by a huge margin.

    So sad HTC smh…..

HTC Jetstream is DOA. Lower your price to $300(on contract) and $500 (off contract) then maybe its worthwhile to buy.

It’s pure comedy to read the comments in here that have people bashing this and saying the iPad is so much cheaper.

PEOPLE, this tablet has 32GB of storage, which you would have known if you had actually read about it instead of whipping down to the comments to establish just how big of slaves to apple you are.

It’s about $100 more for this tablet over a comparably equipped iPad ($849 vs. $729 for the iPad). There’s a significant hardware increase in this tablet over the iPad as well.

If you people won’t even read the spec sheet, let alone try the tablet yourselves, then how about not commenting on it?

    Nah that would never work.

      IPad2 – Wifi Only : 16GB=$499 32GB=$599 and 64GB=$699
      with 3G: 16GB=$629 32GB=$729 and 64GB=$829

      Jetstream Wifi Only : ????
      Jetstream 3G : 32GB = $700 with contract and $849(no contract)

if I am buying a tablet, i don’t need data contract as i have internet at home/work or use hotspot
why limit the option for consumers?
Give me options just like IPad if you are competing with IPad.

Yes, agreed that hardware wise is faster but consumers don’t care. Major selling point is : PRICE
Lower the price(of course you going to lose profit margin) sell more volume or sell less with higher price.
Regardless of the hardware i say $300-$600 is the best price for any tablet in my opinion.

..woohooo.,.I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use CentHub.cōm

In a month this thing will be discounted well under $700. Guaranteed

I wonder why HTC insists on sending these high priced tablets to market. Do they have it set where even if they sell only a few the cost is negated?? I doubt it. I don’t understand who would even buy any of their tablets.
